SchwabenGalerie, Stuttgart-Vaihingen
When a brewery vacated a large area in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, planners had the opportunity to give this city district the centre it lacked.
Architectural office Léon Wohlhage Wernik produced a convincing design, skillfully linking public and private interests. Instead of following the demands of their competitors for an introverted, air-conditioned shopping mall, the architects were guided by the versatile structure of a » European « city. Public spaces in the form of squares and lanes connect the different building elements and functions of the SchwabenGalerie. These elements at the same time interweave the quarter and its neighbours. A living centre was born.
The planning objectives of such architecture can naturally only be achieved when effective lighting preserves the quality of the space at night as well. Our luminaires play an excellent part in harmonizing with the outstanding atmosphere of the architecture by day, and welcoming and guiding visitors safely at night.
